Become a Lead-Safe Certified Firm
For information on becoming a Lead-Safe Certified Firm, select the state where you work:
EPA manages the Lead-Safe Certification program in most areas of the country, and contractors working in those states should apply to EPA to become certified. However, some states are authorized to administer their own Renovation, Repair and Painting Programs (RRP Programs) in lieu of the federal program. Contractors and training providers working in those states (Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin) must contact their state to find out more about its training and certification requirements.
Firms that work in both authorized (gray) and EPA-managed (blue) states may need to be certified by both EPA and the authorized state.
